Daniel Winnik: Acquired By Penguins

Winnik was acquired by the Penguins on Wednesday in exchange for forward Zach Sill, a 2016 second-round draft pick, and a 2015 fourth-round draft pick.

Analysis:

Winnik's name has been tossed about in trade rumors since the Maple Leafs began their January swoon, so his move to a contending club doesn't come as a major surprise. He'll likely see less ice time with the Penguins than he enjoyed in Toronto, but he should benefit from skating next to more talented playmakers. Should he receive an appointment to the Sidney Crosby or Evgeni Malkin line, Winnik could warrant a speculative pickup in deeper formats. He's accumulated seven goals and 25 points in 58 games while skating alongside lesser centers this season.
