Capitals' Niskanen nails Flyers' Laughton with massive open-ice hit
Geoff Burke / USA Today
Matt Niskanen looked a little like Scott Stevens on an open-ice hit late in the second period of Wednesday's game against the Philadelphia Flyers.
The Washington Capitals defenseman lined up Scott Laughton as the Flyers forward crossed Washington's blue line. Laughton cut to the left after gaining the zone, allowing Niskanen to decimate him with a clean hit.
Laughton left the game after the hit and is questionable for Thursday with what is being called an upper-body injury. Flyers general manager Ron Hextall did not allow reporters to speak with Laughton after the contest.
