Beau Bennett: Diagnosed With Mumps

Bennett (knee) was diagnosed with the mumps virus Tuesday, Josh Yohe of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.

Analysis:

Bennett becomes the 14th NHL player confirmed as having the illness, and the second Penguin after Sidney Crosby was determined to have the virus over the weekend. Bennett is dealing with a knee injury that seemingly represents a greater worry for him than the mumps -- which has symptoms that typically last for about a week -- but it's yet another reminder that the debilitating virus continues to menace the entire league and might not go away anytime soon.
