Flyers' Lecavalier to be scratched from Tuesday's game vs. Lightning

When Vincent Lecavalier's contract was bought out by the Tampa Bay Lightning, he signed with the Philadelphia Flyers expecting a rejuvenation.

Instead, he finds himself more in the press box than on the ice in recent days, and will be scratched from Tuesday's game against his former teammates.

This, of course, is a source of great frustration.

"It's not just because it's Tampa," Lecavalier told reporters after Monday's practice. "I just want to play. I said pretty much everything last week. There's nothing to say. Practice hard and be ready mentally if I get a chance to play."

Lecavalier - who has also been battling a minor lower-body injury - has been a healthy scratch since Nov. 29, and he has received limited instruction from head coach Craig Berube in terms of how to get back into the lineup.

"He just said keep working hard," said Lecavalier. "That's what I've been doing."

Signed to a five-year, $22-million contract prior to last season, Lecavalier has recorded two goals and four assists in 16 games.
