Blues recall Binnington on emergency basis

The St. Louis Blues have recalled goaltender Jordan Binnington from the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League, the club announced Tuesday.

Binnington, 21, has appeared in nine games with the Wolves so far this season - his second as a full-time professional goaltender. He's managed a sterling .925 save percentage and a stingy 1.89 goals-against average while splitting duty with veteran Matt Climie.

The recall is under emergency conditions, which suggests Blues starter Brian Elliott may be more seriously hurt than originally thought. 

The Blues have yet to provide an update on Elliott's condition.
