A pair of goals from Tyler Bozak helped the Toronto Maple Leafs overcome a solid effort by the visiting Detroit Red Wings on Saturday.
Here's what you need to know:
- Toronto snapped a four-game winless skid against the Red Wings and recorded their first regulation victory against Detroit since Jan. 7, 2012.
- The Maple Leafs lost defenseman Roman Polak to a lower-body injury in the second period. Polak was favoring his left leg as he left the ice and did not return.
- Tomas Tatar scored on the same play as Polak's injury. Tatar has nine goals on the season, tying him for the team lead with Gustav Nyquist.
- The Red Wings were without Pavel Datsyuk again due to a groin injury that has sidelined the star for three contests.
- Detroit controlled possession at even-strength for the majority of the game but was unable to translate its more dominant stretches into goals.
- Toronto players saluted the fans after the game, unlike Thursday's win over Tampa Bay.
