Jason Spezza: Four-Year, $30M Extension with Stars

Spezza signed a four-year, $30 million extension with the Stars on Friday, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.

Analysis:

Spezza was set to become an unrestricted free agent in July, so the Stars decided to get ahead of a potential bidding role by inking the center to a long-term deal. Though his team has underachieved to this point in his first season in Dallas, Spezza has been as good as advertised, tallying four goals and 14 assists over 20 games.
