The Minnesota Wild have taken a surprising step towards sorting out their goaltending situation for the remainder of the season.
Presumed to be in the running for the starting gig heading into this season, Josh Harding - inactive since training camp with a self-inflicted broken ankle - was activated from injured reserve and subsequently placed on waivers, the club announced Monday.
The 30-year-old is in the final year of a contract that carries a $1.9-million cap hit.
