Blue Jackets recall Brian Gibbons, Sean Collins from Springfield

The Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled two players from the Springfield Falcons of the AHL, while placing key veterans Mark Letestu and James Wisniewski on injured reserve:

Collins is a Cornell-educated former seventh-round draft pick of the Blue Jackets with 11 games of NHL experience (and one career NHL assist). The 25-year-old center is off to a solid start to his AHL season with six points in eight games, and could have a significant opportunity to fill in on the penalty-kill and in a bottom-six role with Brandon Dubinsky, Artem Anisimov, and Letestu all on the shelf.

Brian Gibbons, 26, is an undersized winger who managed five goals and 17 points in 41 NHL games with the Pittsburgh Penguins last season. The Boston College graduate didn't look entirely out of place when given the opportunity to play alongside Sidney Crosby with the Penguins last season, and could even play top-six minutes for the injury-plagued Blue Jackets.
