Red Wings' Franzen placed on short-term injured reserve

The Detroit Red Wings placed forward Johan Franzen on short-term injured reserve Monday, according to Helene St. James of the Free Press.
Franzen was forced out of Saturday's lineup due to a lower-body injury after scoring two goals against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday.
The one they call The Mule will be eligible to return on Oct. 25.
