Rangers' Chris Mueller will make NHL debut vs. Sharks

Andy Marlin / USA TODAY Sports

The New York Rangers will move Martin St. Louis back to the wing and debut Chris Mueller on Sunday against the San Jose Sharks.

Mueller is the only right-handed center the Rangers have in their organization aside from injured center Derek Stepan. Mueller went undrafted and makes his NHL debut at 28 years old.

Head coach Alaine Vigneault told Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News:

The fact that he can play power play, the fact that he is a right-handed shot, the fact that he can take face-offs in the middle and on the right-hand side: Those are all things that we looked at and put in the equation and decided to make a switch.
