During Toronto's 4-1 loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Friday, a Maple Leafs jersey found its way from the stands to the ice for the second time this season.

After the game was decided, goalie James Reimer - who allowed four goals on 35 shots in the loss - expressed his dismay over the seemingly recurring expression of negativity from the fans.

“To see a jersey on the ice like that and to see someone throw it, it’s too bad because obviously I get the message you’re trying to send, but it’s something we have a great respect for and we fight hard for that logo,” Reimer said following the game, according to the National Post's Kaitlyn McGrath. “It’s too bad when somebody does that. But they bought the jersey so they can do what they want with it.”

“The fans have a right to be upset. They come to support us, they want to see winning hockey and we want to win for them,” added Toronto captain Dion Phaneuf. “But when we don’t play well, it’s unfortunate when jerseys are thrown on the ice ... I don't agree with it."

The 2-3-0 Maple Leafs head to Detroit on Saturday for the second half of a home-and-home set. Due to the close proximity of the two cities, it's possible we may witness a similar event across the border if things once again go south for Toronto.
