Report: Avalanche expect Varlamov to miss 2 more games

The Colorado Avalanche expect goaltender Semyon Varlamov to be back in the lineup for a game against the Vancouver Canucks on Oct. 24, according to Mike Chambers of the Denver Post.

Varlamov was placed on injured reserve before Colorado's 5-3 loss to the Ottawa Senators on Thursday. Reto Berra got the start in net, but was quickly replaced by call-up Calvin Pickard after suffering an injury of his own.

Varlamov appears set to miss three games overall, but groin injuries tend to be tricky and there's no guarantee it will be fully healed in time.

Varlamov has struggled out of the gate this year after being a Vezina Trophy finalist last season. He posted a save percentage of .910 while failing to record a win in three starts.
