Analysis:

Though he suited up regularly next to Travis Hamonic last season, it appears de Haan will return to the lineup on the Islanders' third pairing with Brian Strait. The additions of Nick Leddy and Johnny Boychuk late in training camp may prevent de Haan from topping 20 minutes of ice time most nights or enjoying a regular spot on the power play, much to the detriment of his offensive production. Griffin Reinhart was reassigned to AHL Bridgeport to make room for de Haan on the 23-man roster.
