Devan Dubnyk: Gets Starting Nod Saturday

Dubnyk has been confirmed as the starter in goal Saturday against the Kings, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.

Analysis:

It's a bit of a surprising decision that coach Dave Tippett didn't stick with No. 1 goalie Mike Smith on Saturday, since Arizona played its first game Thursday and won't play its next game until Oct. 15. However, Smith didn't exactly help his case for the start by allowing six goals in the opener, so Tippett will turn to Dubnyk as the Coyotes attempt to nail down win No. 1 on the new campaign. Dubnyk was dreadful while splitting time between the Oilers, Predators and Canadiens last season, posting a collective .891 save percentage.
