Honka was reassigned to AHL Texas on Tuesday, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.

Analysis:

As an 18-year-old, Honka would normally have to report back to the junior level after failing to make the NHL roster, but because he was on loan with his junior club last season, he's not allowed to play at that level again. Instead, the Stars will keep him in North America rather than having him return overseas to his native Finland, allowing the team to keep closer tabs of their first-round draft choice. With 16 goals and 40 assists over 56 games in the WHL in 2013-14, Honka offers loads of offensive upside and may be a defensive cornerstone in Big D before long.
