Hodgson will transition to a full-time role at left wing with the Sabres this season, Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News reports.

Analysis:

Hodgson moved from center to wing late last season with the Sabres, but it wasn't until he thrived at the position for Team Canada in this summer's World Championships that the organization decided to make the role a permanent one. The 24-year-old was used alongside Chris Stewart and Mikhail Grigorenko during Sunday's preseason tilt, recording a team-high seven shots while assisting on a goal. Now that it seems he's found his niche for the Sabres, it wouldn't be surprising if Hodgson improved upon last season's outputs of 20 goals and 44 points.
