After ending the season being benched in the final period of the game seven playoff loss to the Rangers, Flyers Center Vincent Lecavalier said he is optimistic about his opportunities this season, reports Tim Panaccio of CSN Philadelphia.

After ending last season by being benched in the final period of the Game 7 playoff loss to the Rangers, Lecavalier said he is feeling optimistic about this season, reports Tim Panaccio of CSN Philadelphia.

Analysis:

Lecavalier was even more enthusiastic about this season after learning that coach Craig Berube plans to start him at center, his natural position. Last season, Berube experimented with placing Lecavalier in several different spots on several different lines. While some renewed eagerness and consistency will certainly benefit the aging center, don't forget that he is just that -- an aging center.
