Sam Bennett compares Johnny Gaudreau to Connor McDavid

Calgary Flames first-round pick Sam Bennett has spent the beginning of the NHL prospect tournament playing alongside Johnny Gaudreau, and he's ready to heap some praise on his new linemate.

After combining for two goals and two assists in a loss to the Edmonton Oilers' prospects on Saturday, Bennett was asked if he could liken Gaudreau's skills to anyone else's abilities. Bennett had a ready comparison to one of his former minor hockey teammates.

"Well, the only other player I can think of is Connor McDavid, but still I don’t even know if (McDavid) has some of the moves that John can pull off. It's pretty impressive,” Bennett told the Flames website. “Any chance you get to play with a guy like that, good things are going to happen for you. I was fortunate enough to play with him tonight."

Gaudreau was a fourth-round selection in 2011, making McDavid - who is projected to be a possible first-overall selection in the next draft - a very favorable comparison. Gaudreau scored 80 points in 40 games at Boston College in 2013-14, winning the Hobey Baker Award for top NCAA men's hockey player in the process.
