The Arizona Coyotes' nine-year pact with the Gila River Casino chain was made official Wednesday after Glendale City Council voted 6-1 in favor of the proposed re-branding.

Team president and CEO Anthony LeBlanc released this statement via Sarah McLellan of AZcentral Sports.

This is an exciting day for us. It's a culmination of many months of working to ensure that we have a naming rights partner that we feel proud of, that we feel we can help, that we can help each other.

Gila RIver Arena will officially open its doors Oct. 9 when the Coyotes skate in their home opener against the Winnipeg Jets.
