Crosby is 100 percent healthy ahead of training camp; laughs off bogus arrest report

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Sidney Crosby spent his offseason going directly to Vail, Colo.; not passing go, and not collecting $200.

In between false reports of his arrest in Ottawa, the best hockey player on the planet has also been recuperating from a wrist injury that nearly required surgery, and very probably caused his uncharacteristic - and much ballyhooed - offensive struggles during the 2014 Stanley Cup playoffs.

On Monday, the Penguins captain met with the media to discuss his odd summer and confirmed that his wrist is back to 100 percent health.

"I got hit by Reaves and I just jammed it," Crosby explained per David Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "It was caught under me."

Yeah, that seems like it would hurt.

Also, just for the "Crosby isn't tough" crowd, the Penguins' captain remained on the ice following the hit, and 10 seconds later made this play with Alex Pietrangelo bearing down on him to set up a dangerous Olli Maatta point shot:

Crosby also addressed the bogus news reports posted online by the Ottawa Sun last week, that passed along a story stating that the Penguins forward had been arrested in Ottawa.

"It’s just one of those things," Crosby said. "I didn’t even bother with it. It was just nonsense. You just try to continue about your day."

Continued the reigning Art Ross Trophy winner: "For five or 10 minutes, it’s something I had to make a phone call about. But I didn’t worry about it after that."

The 27-year-old Penguins center will not be taking legal action against the Sun.
