Modano believes Stars' Seguin 'has the tools' to top his career-best of 93 points

Mike Modano likes what he sees looking back at his old team as he prepares to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Modano, who leads the Dallas Stars in career games played, shots, goals, assists and points, is predicting great things for Tyler Seguin, who led the team in scoring with 84 points last season. The 44-year-old believes Seguin, 22, will top his career-best total of 93 points, which Modano reached twice.

“He has the tools to do it,” Modano said recently. “Having [Jason] Spezza will certainly help, but just having Jamie [Benn] means that both should be in that discussion. They both have that ability, and they push each other pretty hard. You get a good power play, and who knows what can happen. There will be a time when he’s pushing 100, and that could be this season.”

Modano's 93-point seasons were the highest totals by any Stars player since the team moved to Dallas, but he is best remembered for helping the franchise win the Stanley Cup in 1999.
