Louis Leblanc: 'There are worse places than California to play hockey'

After years of seasoning in the AHL, Louis Leblanc will attempt to break into the NHL as a member of the Ducks after being traded to Anaheim earlier this summer.

Drafted 18th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in 2009, Leblanc was never able to crack his hometown club's lineup on a regular basis, scoring five goals and adding five assists in 50 NHL games.

The 23-year-old, however, sees better days ahead.

"I'm looking forward to this new challenge," Leblanc said, per TVA. "I am going there to win a regular position in the team and I know I can achieve it. My goal is to play in the NHL. It did not work with my old team, but I am hopeful of success with the Ducks."

Leblanc added he has no regrets about his time with the Canadiens, but a change of scenery may do him a world of good.

"I have no regrets about leaving the Canadiens, even though I'm from Montreal, he said. "It didn't work with the [Habs], but it can work elsewhere. I intend to prove it. And, honestly, there are worse places than California to play hockey."
