Los Angeles Kings forward Jordan Nolan took the Stanley Cup home to the Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, area on Friday, and as part of his day with sports' greatest trophy, he enjoyed a Pow Wow with over 1,000 members of the Garden River First Nation.

The Pow Wow was Jordan's Aunt Arlene's idea, the sister of father (and Sabres head coach) Ted. “She just passed away the other day, so everyone's pretty emotional right now,” Jordan told the Sault Star. “She thought it would be a great way to get everyone involved.”

The entire day was dedicated in her honor.

“It's very special," Nolan added of the celebration. "They show a lot of support during the season and they're always reaching out to me. So, to bring it (the Cup) back here to them is definitely very special.”

Jordan's success with the Kings isn't lost on the local First Nations community, said Ontario Regional Chief Stan Beardy: “He's providing hope for all us, especially young people.”
