The signing of Mike Cammalleri indicated clearly that the New Jersey Devils are looking to upgrade their skill level. Their second signing of the day continues to develop that trend.

The Devils have agreed to term on a one-year, $1.5 million contract with former San Jose Sharks forward Martin Havlat, according to a report from Larry Brooks of the New York Post. Havlat recently had his contract terminated by compliance buyout.

The Czech scoring forward has struggled to remain healthy in recent years, but he can still fill the net and is a proven point producer in the postseason.

Update: The team has made the deal official.
