Hurricanes re-sign Hainsey to 3-year, $8.5 million contract

The Carolina Hurricanes locked up a solid piece of their defensive puzzle on Tuesday afternoon.

The 33-year-old American proved to be a steady presence on the back-end for the Hurricanes in 2013-14, notching four goals and 15 points while playing in all 82 games. 

Hainsey will collect $3 million in the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons, and $2.5 million in 2016-17.
