The Carolina Hurricanes have been quiet in their search for a new head coach, but it appears as though they have been waiting on a high-profile assistant who worked well into June.

Ulf Samuelsson spent five seasons with the Phoenix Coyotes prior to joining the New York Rangers organization last year.
The former hard-hitting blueliner won a pair of Stanley Cups with the Pittsburgh Penguins alongside Hurricanes general manager Ron Francis.
