Capitals' Alex Ovechkin: Records power-play hat trick Tuesday

Ovechkin scored three power-play goals and added an even-strength assist along with six shots in Tuesday's 5-4 overtime win over the Wild.

Analysis:

All five of Ovechkin's goals over the past four games have come with the extra man. This performance propelled the Russian sniper above his previous career lows of 32 goals and 23 power-play points, and it only took him 2:44 of power-play time and 16:15 of total ice time. Just as impressive is the fact that Ovechkin was able to generate 30 percent of his team's 20 shots for the game in that short span en route to his second hat trick of the season.
