Stars' Kari Lehtonen: Wastes strong start in loss Tuesday

Lehtonen gave up four goals on 36 shots in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to Montreal.

Analysis:

Lehtonen played much better than the final score indicates. His heroics had Dallas leading 1-0 at the first intermission despite being doubled up 14-7 in shots, and the Finn was on pace for a repeat in the second until Max Pacioretty beat him on the Canadiens' 27th shot with 4:11 left in the middle frame. Things fell apart in the third, though, with Montreal adding three unanswered tallies to pull away. Despite a recent uptick in performance, Lehtonen remains unreliable due to a combination of his own inconsistency and poor defensive play in front of him.
