Panthers' Reto Berra: Beaten by Hurricanes

Berra allowed four goals on just 25 shots in a 4-3 loss to Carolina on Tuesday.

Analysis:

The former Avalanche netminder was far from solid in his second appearance and first start of the season, surrendering three tallies by 1:41 of the second period -- one of which was shorthanded. Berra is a third-stringer behind Roberto Luongo (lower body) and James Reimer, and he will likely be sent back down once Luongo returns to action, which may or may not happen this season. Even if he receives another starting nod, however, it's impossible at this point to recommend him for a spot start due to the extremely limited sample size and Tuesday's ineffective showing.
