Flyers' Brandon Manning: Moving closer to return

Manning (shoulder) won't play Tuesday versus the Jets, though coach Dave Hakstol said "he's close," Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Analysis:

The Flyers have 10 games remaining on the regular-season schedule, so there's not a whole lot of time for him to return and find his groove offensively. Of course, that's not his role anyway. Manning is a pesky defender who's delivered 105 hits and 58 PIM in 57 games. His next chance to suit up will be Thursday for a road draw in Minnesota.
