Penguins' Evgeni Malkin: Continues dominant scoring stretch

Malkin scored two goals and added an assist during Wednesday's win over Winnipeg.

Analysis:

Malkin entered the outing with a league-best 3.79 points per 60 minutes among all skaters with 1,000 minutes this season, and he upped that mark and his recent production to nine goals, 16 points and 30 shots through 11 games since returning from a knee injury. He's been an elite scorer for his entire career, but it isn't out of the question to suggest that the 30-year-old center is having his best season in 2016-17. The icing on Wednesday's cake was Malkin dropping the gloves with Winnipeg captain Blake Wheeler in the first period and then hitting the scoresheet twice in the second frame. It was a Mario Lemieux-approved performance.
