Penguins' Matt Murray: Turns in poor first period

Murray allowed three goals on 21 shots and was pulled after the first period in a 4-3 victory over the Sabres.

Analysis:

It was his poorest first period of the season, and coach Mike Sullivan yanked Murray to inspire the team. It worked, as the Penguins mostly outplayed the Sabres in the second and third periods and came back to win. Marc-Andre Fleury got Murray off the hook by stopping all 28 shots he faced. Murray remains a Calder Trophy candidate despite this slip-up, but it's always possible the door is now open for Fleury to receive more playing time after his strong outing.
