Senators' Alex Burrows: Inks deal with Sens

Burrows signed a two-year extension worth $2.5 million per season on Tuesday, Chris Johnston of Sportsnet reports.

Analysis:

Once a highly productive player in Vancouver, Burrows has seen his offensive production plummet in recent years -- just 41 goals in 253 games over the past four seasons. Ottawa likely did not want to sign a soon-to-be 36-year-old in decline through 2018-19, but was essentially forced into it due to the rules of the expansion draft. Unless Burrows finds a spark in Ottawa, there's a very real possibility that he won't play out the entirety of this deal.
