Capitals' Braden Holtby: Takes loss versus Red Wings

Holtby allowed two goals on 23 shots in a shootout loss to the Red Wings on Saturday.

Analysis:

Coming off their bye week, the Capitals came out flat and yielded the first two goals of the game to the last-place Red Wings. Washington came back to tie the score and send it into a shootout, but Holtby and the Capitals were unable to capture the victory. Prior to Saturday, the last time Holtby had taken a loss was Dec. 29. Heading into this game, he was 14-0-0 with a .924 save percentage in 2017. This will likely just be a bump in the road, as Holtby is once again a leading candidate for the Vezina Trophy.
