Penguins' Kris Letang: Lackluster production continues against Panthers

Letang went pointless Thursday and has tallied four points -- all even-strength assists -- in his last 10 games.

Analysis:

Normally that kind of production from a defenseman would be cause for celebration, but Letang totaled 67 points in 71 regular-season tilts in 2015-16. Furthermore, Pittsburgh has registered 41 goals in its last 10 games, making Letang's contribution look even smaller. The recent offensive surge of Pittsburgh's third defensive pairing, Justin Schultz and Ian Cole, has cut into Letang's numbers. The team's top blueliner's inability to cash in on the power play hasn't helped, either. On the plus side, Letang is healthy and averaging nearly 26 minutes (25:48) of ice time.
