Blackhawks' Jonathan Toews: Lands on injured reserve

The Blackhawks placed Toews (back) on injured reserve retroactive to Nov. 24 on Friday.

Analysis:

Placing Toews on IR allowed the Blackhawks to activate Trevor van Riemsdyk (arm) off IR in a corresponding move, and doesn't suggest the 28-year-old pivot's recovery timetable has changed. The Blackhawks' captain has already been ruled out of Saturday's matchup with Philadelphia, but he'll be eligible to return to Chicago's lineup whenever he's healthy enough to play.
