Hurricanes' Cam Ward: Between pipes Friday

Ward will start in goal Friday night against the visiting Rangers.

Analysis:

Ward has gotten off to an inauspicious start to the season, allowing a combined 12 goals on 79 shots in starts between the Jets, Oilers and Red Wings, respectively. The 32-year-old veteran will try to reverse that trend with his first start at home Friday, but we wouldn't necessarily count on that happening, as he was actually worse in Raleigh last season -- 2.47 GAA compared to a 2.33 rate on the road.
