Flyers' Steve Mason: Defending cage Monday

Mason will get the starting nod against the Canadiens on Monday, Sam Carchidi of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Analysis:

Mason will be in goal coming off his first win of the season despite allowing three goals or more in three of his first four starts. The Flyers are currently averaging 3.80 goals per game, a trend which may need to continue in order to overcome the netminder's early struggles. Fortunately for the 28-year-old, backup Michal Neuvirth has not fared much better, as he's allowed six goals in two appearances, and is showing no signs of overtaking Mason for the starting role.
