Avalanche's Mikko Rantanen: Will rejoin big club this week

Rantanen will rejoin the Avalanche this week after his conditioning stint with AHL San Antonio, the Denver Post reports.

Analysis:

The Avs are on on a lengthy break until Friday when they host the Jets, and GM Joe Sakic made it clear that Rantanen would be brought back up to the big club sometime before then. The 10th overall pick in 2015, the 19-year-old piled up 60 points in 52 games last year with San Antonio but wasn't able to crack the scoresheet in nine games with Colorado.
