Red Wings' Jimmy Howard: Pitches shutout Saturday

Howard was outstanding yet again Saturday, stopping all 30 shots he faced from the Sharks for his 23rd career shutout.

Analysis:

Howard lost his starting job to Petr Mrazek to start the season, but he's graciously accepted the reduced role and focusing on what matters most to the team: winning hockey games. The 32-year-old veteran has downed the Rangers and Sharks, respectively, allowing just one goal on 63 combined shots. Had it not been for an unlucky bounce against the Blueshirts, Howard would be perfect after 120 minutes of play. Detroit has won four straight games, making both Howard and Mrazek intriguing plays in daily games.
