Panthers' Roberto Luongo: Penciled in to start Saturday

Luongo was named the starting home goalie for Saturday's date with the Avalanche, Steve Goldstein of FOX Sports Florida reports.

Analysis:

One cannot place the blame purely on the No. 1 backstop in Florida, but Luongo was touched up by the Capitals on Thursday, allowing four goals on 29 shots in a 4-2 loss. The savvy veteran should have an easier time against the Avalanche, having gone 1-1 with a .931 save mark in two starts against them last season, though he'll have to be mindful of forward Matt Duchene, who busted out of his slump with a three-point effort Thursday.
