Flyers' Dale Weise: Suspended three games

Weise received a three-game ban for an illegal check to the head, the NHL Department of Player Safety announced Friday.

Analysis:

The Department of Player Safety determined Weise's check was illegal because he made Korbinian Holzer's head the main point of contact. The suspension rules the winger out until Oct. 27 against the Coyotes. Although the 28-year-old is averaging 2:33 of power-play ice time per night, he has yet to tally a point this season. During Weise's ban, Nick Cousins is the most likely candidate to move up to the second line.
