Avalanche's Andreas Martinsen: Lights lamp Thursday

Martinsen scored a third-period goal in Thursday's 4-0 win over the Lightning.

Analysis:

The Norwegian sophomore connected with linemate Joe Colborne for the tally that gave the Avs a 3-0 lead and essentially put a tough road tilt with the Bolts on ice. Martinsen got into 55 games with the big club in his rookie season last year, registering an insignificant 11 points while racking up 47 PIM. However, his real value lies in the hits department, as he finished second among first-year forwards with 155 of them. If the 6-foot-3, 220-pound winger can find a way to get on the scoresheet with any type of regularity -- say, a point every couple games or so -- he has the potential to deliver real value in leagues that count hits.
