Predators' Pekka Rinne: Brilliant outing spoiled by lack of support

Rinne stood on his head Tuesday night against the Stars, denying 35 of 37 shots but ultimately taking a 2-1 loss.

Analysis:

Rinne was outstanding in this one, and it's hard to blame him for the two goals he allowed. On the first one, the puck was deflected into the net; on the other, he was crowded at point-blank range. The 6-foot-5 Finn remains one of the league's better goalies, as he sports a career 2.37 GAA -- that rate doesn't necessarily jump off the page at first glance, but consider that his career really took off in the late 2000s, when scoring drastically spiked across the league. That said, Rinne's numbers have been worse than his career norms in three of the last four seasons.
