Flames' Chad Johnson: Plays great in shootout loss

Johnson stopped 30 of 31 shots before falling 2-1 in the shootout Saturday against the Canucks.

Analysis:

What a season debut for the career backup netminder, who would have escaped with a 1-0 shutout had it not been for Daniel Sedin's goal with less than four minutes left in regulation. Brian Elliott was brought to Calgary in the summer to be the undisputed starter for the Flames, but given that he allowed 10 goals in the first two games and Johnson's stellar performance in this one, it wouldn't be surprising to see Johnson again between the pipes again sooner rather than later.
