Blue Jackets' Pierre-Luc Dubois: Makes initial NHL roster, but stay expected to be brief

Dubois is on the Blue Jackets' initial 23-man NHL roster, but is expected to be sent to QMJHL Cape Breton when Alex Wennberg is recalled in advance of Thursday's season opener, The Columbus Dispatch reports.

Analysis:

The third overall pick in this year's draft has a contract that counts about $2 million more than Wennberg's towards the salary cap if he's on the NHL roster, and due to a loophole in the current CBA, it's actually to the Jackets' advantage to carry additional salary when they place David Clarkson (back) on long-term IR. Once the Clarkson transaction is set, Wennberg will rejoin the big club and assume No. 3 center duties, while Dubois will return to junior hockey for another season of development after struggling during his first training camp.
