Bruins' Frank Vatrano: Undergoes successful foot surgery

Vatrano underwent successful surgery to repair torn ligaments in his foot Monday, the Boston Herald reports.

Analysis:

Vatrano's injury -- which is expected to sideline him for three months -- is a hit to the B's scoring depth, as the young, sharp-shooting winger was a candidate to push for a top-six role. His absence paves the way for the likes of Danton Heinen, Zach Senyshyn, Peter Cehlarik, Jake DeBrusk and even tryout Peter Mueller to push for forward roles with the B's to start the coming season.
