Red Wings' Thomas Vanek: Contributes for Team Europe

Vanek (upper body) went plus-1 with an assist in Monday's 3-2 overtime win over the Czech Republic.

Analysis:

Vanek spent a part of the offseason rehabbing from broken and displaced ribs, but he's looked healthy early on in the World Cup of Hockey, having helped Team Europe to a 2-0 start. The Red Wings picked up Vanek on a one-year deal; he may start out in a bottom-six role with the team so crowded up front.
