Sabres' Jason Kasdorf: Will battle for No. 1 job in the AHL

Kasdorf, who signed with Buffalo late in the 2015-16 season, is expected to begin the season as the backup for AHL Rochester this coming season, the Olean Times Herald reports.

Analysis:

Linus Ullmark is the incumbent starter for AHL Rochester, but head coach Dan Lambert admits that if Kasdorf plays well, he could easily steal the No. 1 job. The Rensselaer grad was acquired along with Evander Kane in a trade with Winnipeg, and made just one start with Buffalo last season, allowing four goals on 30 shots in a loss against Columbus. Kasdorf, 24, has a limited ceiling and is unlikely to ever become a consistent starter in the NHL.
